Dreamy and Creamy Brain-boosting Protein Smoothie
This smoothie is a winner! It's creamy and filling and leaves the smoothie lovers in our household very happy. It also sustains us until lunch, which doesn't happen often with a smoothie. I'm not a huge date fan, but love them here and they are really good for you! I often make this recipe, fill our daughter's glass up, then blend the remaining smoothie with creatine and lion's mane for my (adult) version. I grew up in California with thick, date shakes and this smoothie takes me back to those sunshine memories. So good! Enjoy!!
A Great, Protein, Vegan Thick Smoothie (GF DF V)!
Serves 2
1 T ground flaxÂ
1 T chia seeds
1 T hemp seeds (also called hemp hearts)
2 cups soy milk (or your favorite kind of milk) - extra if you want it not as thick
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup dried coconut (any shape-- dessicated, shredded, etc.)
1 large T peanut butter, almond butter, or tahini
1 T plant-based protein powder or your favorite protein powder
1/2 cup Vanilla coconut yoghurt (or regular yoghurt for the non-vegan option)
Pinch of salt (we love Himalayan sea salt found at Bin Inns)
4 ice cubes
Optional add-ons:
1 T cacao nibs
1 T MCT oil (I like this for a boost in brain power)
1 T creatineÂ
1 tsp Lions Mane
1/4 avocado
1/4 cup oats (for non gluten-free option)
1/4 cup of your favorite Yum
- Place ingredients from top to bottom in blender or immersion blender (this gives the chia seeds time to soak in the milk to hydrate)
- Blend on high until smooth and creamy
- Place in glasses and enjoy!
